In 2004, with the Oficina Municipal do Teatro (OMT) temporarily occupied by theatre company Escola da Noite (while the new Teatro da Cerca de S. Bernardo was being completed), O Teatrão decided to accept the challenge of programing a space where they would end up developing most of their artistic activities for the following four years: The Museum of Transport of Coimbra.

Co-productions with the Theatre and Education course of ESEC as well as the programing of artists involving national and international projects of reference in the Museum of Transport allowed for the relationship between the company and the city of Coimbra to develop. The contact with new artists and the implementation of the educational project provoked a change in repertory: shows such as A Passagem (by Pedro Eiras, directed by Antonio Mercado), The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds (by Paul Zindel, directed by João Mota), Gil Vicente? Samicas... (directed by António Fonseca) and The Caucasian Chalk Circle (by Bertolt Brecht, directed by Marco António Rodrigues) would start the company on the path to the next phase: O Teatrão in Coimbra's Oficina Municipal de Teatro (OMT).
